Crucifix at Sacred Heart Church, Wasilla, Alaska
by Walter Combs

These are pictures of the Crucifix my friend and neighbor, Charlie Lochner, carved for the new Catholic Church in Wasilla, Alaska.

I thought I would share them with you; it is life size with a six foot body and an eleven foot upright beam. The window behind is a real stained glass window (not carved by Charlie, I was asked something about it earlier) and is situated above the altar. The body, loin cloth and rope were carved from Tupelo wood, and the cross is made of cottonwood. The crown of thorns are from Israel and are the same thorns as those placed on Christ's head.
